Niagara Falls & Toronto
Normally, I'd fight organized tours tooth and nail but this time it actually was nice.
For a weekend I went on a tour to Niagara Falls and Toronto with iku! tours and the guides are awesome.
I highly recommend them! (:
Bonjour Montréal!

| Something a random stranger said to me at the airport |
My journey to Montréal-Canada started on the 1st of August, the first day of summer holidays.
Although it was the forth time for me to travel on my own, it felt different
-and so it was.
I attended EC Montreal, a language school located right in the center of Montreal, and took part in the 'bilingual course'. Aiming at improving both, my French and English, I had quite a rough and especially long schedule. On my first day at school I met people from Germany, France, Columbia, Mexiko, Switzerland, Brazil and teachers from Iran and Lebanon, who ,btw, did an awesome job.
But not only my school was filled with a beautiful range of different nationalities, nope, my hostfamily consisted of a hostmum from Barbados, a hostbro from China and a hostsister from Taiwan.
My life at home and in school basically characterizes Montreal perfectly. I've never seen a city as diversified. Wherever you go you can either sense the traditional European influence or the new American standards. It's fascinating!
Tho, I mainly recommend it as a city to live in rather than a perfect place for a short-time exchange.
My English did improve but for those who aim at improving their French: Go for France! (:
All in all, I loved the experience and am still smiling at the fact that basically every time I got confused about directions, people immediately stopped to help me.
Like once I was terribly tired, went shopping and the owner of the shop just went:
''Are you alright?''
''Yea...just abit tired''
''You do look tired, wait, I'll get you some caramel and chocolate, there you go!''
And then we just had a bit of a chit-chat for a while haha
Not something you'd easily find in Europe!
Things to do in Montréal:
- attend one of the many festivals during summer
- Biôdome
- try Poutine (It's all about the try haha')
- climb Mont Royal
- pay a visit to Notre-Dame
- enjoy Chinatown
- Montreal Botanical Gardens (which i missed)
- experience a bit of Europe at Old Montreal
And even if it's summer NEVER forget to take a sweater!
